The digital revolution in the apparel industry has gained momentum in recent months – but it’s still in its infancy, because a lot of potential exists for achieving greater sustainability through technology. 2020 this will be an important topic for us at Assyst. Our CEO Dr. Andreas Seidl will kick off the year as a panelist in a discussion at the NEONYT in Berlin.
“Digitalization is a key to sustainability. In the coming months, we intend to demonstrate the sustainability potential of our technologies more clearly than ever before,” he says. “Our solutions contribute in different ways: for example, with 3D our customers get the right prototype faster, and there’s now no need for a lot of models to fly halfway around the world. Automarker helps our customers to get as much as possible out of a fabric, producing a lot less waste, and as part of the Digital Textile Micro Factory, we promote innovative, individualized production that brings garments closer to the customer.”
Just how sustainable is “virtual fashion”?
Dr. Andreas Seidl will be part of the “Virtually Fashionable – and Sustainable?” panel at the Neonyt trade fair on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The event is due to start at 2:15 p.m. Panel members who will be discussing the sustainability potential of technological innovations with Dr. Seidl include Lena Blume, Client Engagement Manager Europe of Browzwear, Stacia Carr, Director of Engineering - Dedicated Owner Sizing at Zalando and Pierre-Nicolas Hurstel, CEO and co-founder of Arianee.
